Nature walking

Lovely blog by Jayne Phenton of Living Streets and a great follow-on from PSI’s research on independent mobility, showcased here in January. Living Streets coordinate Walk to School Week (20-24 May) – get involved and help make sure today’s children can enjoy the simple pleasure of walking to school.

With so many parents rushing to and from work around school hours no time is left for this important part of a childs day. As a childminder I walk children to and from school everyday regardless of the weather – infact the worse the weather the better they often enjoy it! Turn taking amongst parents walking with chldren could help ensure more children enjoy this social, physically and intellectually healthy actvity
